Sebaceaous Hyperplasia
What is sebaceous hyperplasia?
Sebaceous Hyperplasia (Seb Hyp) is a common condition that causes small bumps under the skin. These bumps are the result of over production of SEBUM(oil), by the sebaceous gland. The damaged glands can become enlarged or blocked, with a white or yellowish surface, with a indent in the center. The indent is a characteristic of Sebaceous Hyperplasia. Seb Hyp can be single or multiple, appearing on the face, particularly on the nose, cheeks, and forehead.
How is it treated?
Cauterization: using electrical current to smooth out raised bump
Chemical Peels: TCA( Trichloracetic Acid), Salicylic Acid, breaks down sebum
Laser Tx’s: Shrink down bump, sebum breakdown
Products: Retinols, Salicylic acid, Niacinamide(B3), the combination of Salicylic Acid, Retinols, and B3 visibly helps reduce Seb Hyp.
